Our Journey From Vision to Reality
Phase One: Small and Large Scale Farming
In 2017, we launched our small-scale farming operation, cultivating just over an acre of land with diverse genetics. After our first harvest, we began developing retail products and assessing the overall market. As we learned about the complexities and challenges of the hemp and cannabis industry, it became evident that we needed to expand our farming efforts.
With our newfound industry knowledge and experience from the initial season, we scaled our cultivation from one acre in 2017 to over 20 acres in 2018. During this period, our team focused on developing and refining various methods for plant propagation, harvesting, and drying the crop. As the 2018 harvest season neared its conclusion, we started exploring ways to bring our products to market
Phase Two: Extraction – Vermont
After finishing our 2018 harvest, we started drying our material and developed a comprehensive batch tracking system to analyze the efficiencies and inefficiencies of the different genetics we had been working with in terms of processing and extracting cannabis or hemp-derived compounds. During this time, we also began sourcing equipment and setting up our first lab. With our new ethanol processing facility and internal tracking system, we were prepared to extract our crop and provide toll processing services to other cultivation companies. Our lab and tracking system enabled us to link lot numbers to potency and cleanliness, offering seed-to-sale traceability for all products and extracts. We designed our system to ensure complete transparency for farmers at every stage of the toll processing.
Phase Three: Extraction – Maine
In the summer of 2020, we set out to build our lab and manufacturing facility in Lewiston, Maine. Our mission was to not only keep our organic hemp operations going but also to expand into the medical and recreational cannabis markets. We created a C1D2 extraction space and licensed a commercial kitchen, ensuring we could maintain the same quality and transparency that’s been at the heart of our company since day one. With our new facility ready and a passionate, experienced team on board, we started working closely with local cultivators. Together, we focused on producing clean, compliant, lab-tested extracts.
Phase Four: Upgrading - Wiped film, gummies and vape production
After establishing our brand and toll services in Maine, we increased our lab throughput and refined our processes. As demand for our extraction services rose, we transitioned from short path distillation to wiped film distillation, while also enhancing our filtration methods and scaling up production. Our team developed recipes and standard operating procedures for vegan, gelatin, and sugar-free gummies, enabling large-scale production that met testing standards for homogeneity and shelf stability. Our goal was to provide affordable, high-quality gummies directly from our lab. Additionally, we began creating a range of vapable products using our tested extracts. Through extensive research and development, we sourced reliable, contaminant-free hardware and established a method for blending our extracts and terpenes, resulting in enjoyable and distinctive products
Phase Five: Present day – Hydrocarbon
Committed to using only third-party lab-tested, impurity-free materials and aiming to expand our product and service offerings, we began constructing our C1D1 extraction booth in Maine. This facility upgrade enables us to implement a system that uses hydrocarbon solvents like propane and butane for extracting cannabinoids and terpenes. This method allows us to produce a variety of extracts with different consistencies and enables the use of "live/fresh frozen" material, broadening our product range. Hydrocarbon extracts come in various forms and concentrations, including full spectrum, broad spectrum, and isolates. Our focus remains on maintaining a quality terpene profile and controlling our inputs to ensure a clean, tested, high-quality, and affordable product.
